Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Perishable Department Manager to oversee the perishable sections including produce, dairy, meats, and bakery while ensuring freshness, proper inventory, and customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Collaborating with the Store Manager, you will ensure safe operations, adherence to food-handling rules, and staff training to maintain quality displays and compliant processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability and security practices to protect financial integrity.
• Follow company policies and SOPs and maintain compliant operations.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using store tools and guidance.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food per regulations and policy.
