Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related perishable areas. You will assist in inventory management, set attractive merchandise presentation, and ensure safe operations.

The role supports the Store Manager in implementing policies, training staff, and maintaining sanitation standards while delivering strong customer service and safe working conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Retail experience and at least six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules and procedures manuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using store tools and plans; manage inventory and pricing standards.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness and sale of perishable products.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed promptly and efficiently.
