Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related categories in a fast-paced store environment. You will assist the Store Manager with efficient inventory, merchandise presentation, and exceptional customer service while upholding safety standards.

Responsibilities include training associates, monitoring stock and pricing, and ensuring compliance with food handling regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage Perishable Departments including produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas.
• Assist with inventory management and merchandise presentation.
• Train associates in stocking, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Ensure safety and sanitation compliance.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and respond to customer needs efficiently.
