Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks a capable Perishable Department Lead to support the Store Manager in managing produce, dairy, meat, bakery, and other perishables. You will help maintain inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring compliance with safety and food-handling rules.

You will train associates, monitor stock levels, record markdowns, and assist with pricing, promotions, and loss prevention.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow safety and operating procedures.
• Mathematical skills for basic calculations and reporting.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposits, and loss prevention.
• Familiarity with inventory and merchandising practices.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in cash accountability, key control, and cash protection.
• Follow SOPs, employee handbook, and company communications.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using plan guides and order sheets.
• Record inventory levels and markdowns; analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs are addressed promptly and courteously.
• Monitor sanitation and safety in perishable departments; rotate stock.
• Train on proper stocking, grading, and re-packaging of perishable products.
