Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, and related sections. You will manage inventory, presentation, and customer service, while ensuring food safety and asset protection in a fast-paced store environment.

You will train associates on stocking, rotation, pricing, and safe handling, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and company procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Train associates in proper grading and re-packaging to minimize MD's.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling coverage and proper stocking/rotation.
• Assist in training on proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Assist in training on safe handling of food per regulations.
• Ensure sanitation standards via Cleaning Schedule and staff training.
