Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Perishable Department Manager to oversee perishables including produce, dairy, meats, and bakery. You will support the Store Manager with inventory, presentation, and customer service while ensuring food safety and compliance with company rules.

You will train associates in proper stocking, pricing, and defect handling, and maintain stock levels and marketability of perishable items to maximize sales and minimize waste.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to learn and operate cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to follow plan-o-gram and merchandising guidelines.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications in food handling.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in cash accountability, key control, and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using the tools provided.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishables.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed efficiently.
