Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Frozen Food, and Bakery areas, ensuring fresh product, proper stock levels, and strong customer service.

You will train associates, uphold safety standards, and coordinate with Store leadership to optimize daily operations across perishables. Retail leadership and food-handling certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical abilities for stock calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Ability to operate a cash register.
• Familiarity with planograms and merchandising guidance.
• Willingness to obtain applicable food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using the following tools.
• Assess work completion and follow up with associates regarding performance.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Train associates in perishable grading, freshness, and packaging standards.
• Assist in scheduling coverage with Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Ensure sanitation standards and train associates in Perishable departments.
