Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Perishables Lead to manage the produce, fresh meat, dairy, bakery and frozen departments under the Store Manager. You will support inventory management, merchandising, customer service, and asset protection while helping maintain a safe, compliant store environment.

This role emphasizes training of associates, adherence to food handling rules, stock rotation, markdowns analysis, and daily communication with customers to meet merchandise expectations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and analyze sales, profitability and stock turns.
• Experience with cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit control procedures.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow company SOPs, handbooks and communications.
• Ensure perishable stock levels are correct and aligned with store volume.
• Train associates in perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Train associates in safe handling of food and compliance with rules and regulations.
• Record inventory levels and assist in customer service to meet needs.
• Maintain sanitation standards and supervise perishable departments using the Cleaning Schedule.
• Support other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
