Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen, Bread and Bakery products. You will manage inventory levels, plan appealing merchandise, and ensure safe, compliant operations while serving customers.

Responsibilities include training associates, maintaining stock accuracy, and enforcing sanitation and safety rules to protect assets and drive store performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and percentages.
• Strong cash handling, cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Proficient cash register operations.
• Knowledge of safety policies and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication.
• Ability to read plan-o-gram and merchandising guidance.
• Willing to obtain required food handling certifications.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience (lead preferred).

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using store volume and guides.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food per rules.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Record inventory levels as requested by management.
• Assist in ensuring sanitation standards and Cleaning Schedule compliance.
• Assist in scheduling coverage for perishable departments.
