Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Supervisor to manage the produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and other perishable sections under the Store Manager. You will drive inventory control, merchandising, pricing, and quality customer service to ensure a safe shopping environment.

You will also train associates on proper stock rotation and food handling, maintain sanitation standards, and collaborate with the Store Manager on operational improvements to maximize profitability.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to learn and operate the cash register and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposits, and security procedures.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong organizational skills and clear communication.
• Willingness to obtain required food-handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in financial integrity, cash accountability, and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using current ads, planners, and order guides.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Record inventory levels and monitor customer requests for timely service.
• Ensure sanitation standards and train staff per Cleaning Schedule.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
