Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Supervisor to manage produce, dairy, meats, and bakery areas under Store Manager supervision. You will oversee inventory, ensure optimal stock levels, and train associates in presentation, safety, and pricing standards to maintain quality and customer service.

Responsibilities include enforcing cash-control practices, adhering to food-handling rules, and supporting merchandising strategies across perishable categories to drive profitability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and store security practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with inventory management, cash accountability, and security procedures.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using tools such as Current Ads/Planners and order guides.
• Train associates in perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards and safe handling of food.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and prevent recurrence.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and maintain sanitation standards.
