Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a dedicated leader to manage the Perishable Departments, including produce, meats, dairy, and bakery, under the Store Manager's supervision. You will support inventory management, merchandise presentation, and customer service while ensuring safety and asset protection.

You will train associates on perishables handling, stock rotation, and proper pricing, while maintaining stock levels and responding to customer needs efficiently.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to operate a cash register and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain required local food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assists Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash handling and security practices.
• Maintains correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using provided tools.
• Trains associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Ensures safe handling of food in compliance with regulations.
• Records perishable markdowns and analyzes causes to prevent recurrence.
• Maintains inventory levels and supports customer service needs.
• Supports other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
