Job summary

Dollar General seeks an energetic leader to manage the Perishable Departments, including produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and frozen items. You will support the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandising, pricing, and customer service, while ensuring a safe, compliant work environment.

Your role emphasizes accurate stock levels, staff training on freshness and safety, and daily interaction with customers to meet merchandise expectations and requests.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Ability to perform calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• ability to learn cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels using current ads, planners, and order guides.
• Ensure safe working environment and protection of company assets.
• Train associates in proper stocking, presentation, and pricing in perishable areas.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain customer relations and address needs in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling regulations.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
