Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader to oversee the Produce, Meat, Dairy, and Bakery sections, ensuring inventory accuracy, appealing merchandising, and strong customer service. You will support the Store Manager in maintaining safety, compliance, and asset protection while coaching associates on perishables handling and presentation.

The role emphasizes daily stock management, markdown control, and collaboration with the Store Manager to drive store performance and guest

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining correct perishable stock levels using store tools and guides.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food per regulations.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Maintain inventory levels and ensure customer needs are addressed promptly.
• Assist with sanitation standards and training in Perishable departments.
• Support other store areas as directed by the Store Manager.
