Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a leader to manage the Perishable Departments including produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and frozen items. You will assist in inventory management, merchandising, and safe store operations while ensuring excellent customer service.

The role supports the Store Manager and trains associates in safety, presentation, and pricing standards. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, plus retail experience and some supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Mathematical calculations including percentages and reports.
• Experience with cash registers and store reporting tools.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to follow plan-o-gram guidance and pricing standards.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels and order guides.
• Oversee inventory control, cash accountability, and security practices.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing in perishable areas.
• Ensure sanitation standards and safe handling of food products.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Maintain excellent customer service and respond to requests promptly.
