Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, meat, dairy, and bakery sections, ensuring inventory accuracy and compelling merchandising. This role supports the Store Manager in daily operations and compliance with safety and food-handling rules.

You will train associates in perishable standards, assist with stock planning, and maintain exceptional customer service while protecting assets and ensuring a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with perishable stock management and inventory accuracy.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using relevant tools.
• Train assigned associates in proper stocking, freshness and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customer needs and requests are addressed efficiently.
• Maintain sanitation standards and train associates in the Perishable departments.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
