Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Lead to manage the Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Frozen, Bakery, and related departments, ensuring stock is fresh and merchandise is attractively presented.

Under Store Manager supervision, you will help with inventory integrity, pricing standards, training of associates, and adherence to food handling and safety rules.

This role emphasizes customer service, operational efficiency, and protecting company assets in a busy discount store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage perishable departments including produce, fresh meat, packaged meats, and dairy, frozen food, bread, and bakery items.
• Assist Store Manager with inventory management and merchandising.
• Train associates in proper stocking, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Train on proper and safe handling of food in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure customer needs are addressed promptly.
