Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Lead to manage the produce, fresh meat, dairy, frozen foods, bakery and related departments under the Store Manager. You will help ensure accurate inventory, attractive merchandising and high-quality customer service to drive sales.

You will supervise perishable staff, train associates in proper food handling and pricing, monitor stock levels with guides and order plans, and uphold safety, sanitation and company policies across all perishable areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability and security procedures.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using various guides and order plans.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Train staff in proper and safe handling of food in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Record perishables markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed efficiently and timely.
• Assist in inventory management and merchandising to support store goals.
