Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery and related areas. You will assist in inventory planning, ensure fresh merchandise, and uphold safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities include training associates, controlling stock, and maintaining paperwork for audits while delivering strong customer service and cost-conscious operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules and procedures.
• Proficient math to perform calculations and analyze data.
• Experience with cash handling and register operations.
• Knowledge of inventory, merchandising practices and plan-o-gram guidance.
• Understanding of safety policies and food handling requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity and cash controls.
• Manage perishables to ensure freshness and proper stock levels.
• Train associates on presentation, pricing, rotation and safety.
• Record inventory levels and monitor shrink and markdowns.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and professionally.
• Maintain compliance with sanitation standards and SOPs.
