Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, dairy, meats, bakery, and related sections. You will support the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandising, pricing accuracy, and customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and adherence to food handling and safety standards. Prior supervisory exposure and familiarity with plan-o-grams are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months of supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience in perishable departments is a plus.
• Must be able to obtain required food handling certifications where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels using established tools and guides.
• Train associates on proper presentation, freshness, and pricing of perishable items.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and safety rules within the Perishable departments.
• Record inventory levels and assist with markdowns and pricing changes.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs promptly.
