Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will assist in inventory management, merchandising, and customer service while maintaining safety and compliance with food handling rules.

Responsibilities include monitoring stock, training staff, and implementing correct pricing and rotation strategies to minimize waste and maximize store performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to learn and operate cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow company SOPs, handbooks, and communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using tools like ads, planners, and order guides.
• Train associates in proper stock rotation, presentation, and safe food handling.
