Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandise presentation, and customer service to ensure safety and profitability across all perishable categories.

Responsibilities include training associates on freshness, proper handling of food, and adherence to policies, while maintaining stock levels and supporting security and cash-control procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume and planograms.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
