Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to supervise produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will ensure inventory accuracy, optimal presentation, and superior customer service while maintaining safety and sanitation standards.

Collaborate with the Store Manager to uphold policies and protect company assets. The role requires minimum retail experience, some supervisory exposure, and willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Perishable Departments (produce, meats, dairy, bakery) and ensure quality customer service.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and use tools like Produce Order guide, Vendor Order Guide, and sales history.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing standards, and safe food handling.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and store safety policies.
• Support the Store Manager in cash accountability, security practices, and policy adherence.
