Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen Food, Bread and Bakery items, ensuring accurate inventory, attractive merchandising and high-quality customer service. You will train associates, enforce food handling rules, manage scheduling with store leadership, and monitor markdowns and spoilage to protect store assets.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate a cash register.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Compliance with company SOPs and Employee Handbook.
• Ability and willingness to obtain required food handling certificates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using planning tools.
• Assist in training associates on presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Assist in training associates in the proper and safe handling of food in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Train assigned associates in the proper execution of hourly recovery standards to model store standards.
• Train in stocking and rotation of Perishable products.
• Support Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in ensuring adequate scheduling coverage.
• Record Perishable Markdowns, analyze causes and take corrective action.
• Train associates in proper grading and re-packaging standards in produce to minimize MD's.
• Accurately record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and training associates in Perishable departments.
