Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department lead to oversee the perishables, including produce, meats, dairy, and bakery. You will help manage inventory, ensure product freshness, and maintain attractive, safe merchandising while delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and percentages.
• Ability to learn cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Comfort with following safety policies and plan-o-gram guidelines.
• Willingness to obtain required local/state food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity and cash accountability.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using produced guides, order plans, and sales history.
• Train staff on proper presentation, freshness, and pricing in perishables.
• Record inventory levels and conduct markdown analysis to prevent losses.
• Ensure sanitation standards and safe handling of food in perishables.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs promptly.
