Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandising, and safe, compliant operations while delivering strong customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity of the store through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow company policies and SOPs and ensure staff compliance with procedures.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using provided tools and planning guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels and assist in addressing customer requests promptly.
• Ensure sanitation standards and safety practices are followed in the Perishable departments.
