Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the perishable sections including produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and frozen items. You will assist in inventory control, merchandising, and delivering quality customer service while upholding safety standards.

The role requires supervising staff, training on proper handling, and ensuring policy compliance to protect assets and maintain store goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels and ensure quality customer service.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of perishable items.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and company SOPs and policies.
