Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team as a first, second, or assisting technician or second circulator under RN supervision. The role emphasizes aseptic technique and collaboration to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities include assisting with supplies, documentation, and communication across units, while maintaining sterile fields and supporting the OR team during procedures. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Problem solving related to the procedure being performed.
• Applied knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology.
• Applies sterile technique during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment with asepsis principles.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient operation.
• Facilitates communication between units and OR team.
• Collects data on assigned patients per unit standards.
• Documents patient information and orders accurately.
• Transcribes orders and schedules tests and exams.
• Prepares patients for transport and activities of daily living.
• Keeps admission/discharge logs and logs audit-ready.
• Ensures charges are entered correctly for procedures.
• Participates in QA and infection control activities as needed.
• Assists with supplies ordering and inventory management.
