Job summary

University of California - Irvine Health is seeking a Surgical Tech to assist with direct patient care in the Operating Room. You will prepare and stock the OR before and after surgery, gather sterile supplies, and maintain sterile instrument fields while upholding aseptic technique.

The role requires six months of acute care experience as an OR Tech or completion of an accredited OR Tech program, along with current BLS certification and strong communication skills in English.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Minimum Experience: Six months acute care experience as an OR Tech (Surgical Technologist) or a graduate from an accredited OR Tech (Surgical Technologist) training program required.
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care activities in the Operating Room.
• Prepares and stocks the OR before and after surgery.
• Gathers clean and sterile supplies; sets sterile instrument fields.
• Maintains aseptic techniques and assists with orientation of new staff.
• Participates on departmental committees.
