Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Perianesthesia Nurse in California to support preoperative and postoperative care. You will evaluate patient status using monitors, develop individualized care plans, and assist with anesthesia-related recovery across various modalities.

Requirements include RN licensure, 1 year of preoperative or PACU experience, and BLS/BCLS, ACLS, (PALS if pediatric care is included). On-site role with comprehensive benefits and team-based environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Current state licensure to practice with good standing.
• BL S/BCLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required if pediatric care is included within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Assess patient preoperative and postoperative status per policy.
• Interpret information from monitors accurately.
• Describe pathophysiology of diseases encountered.
• Explain anesthesia physiology and related interventions.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement plan for recovery from anesthesia across modalities.
• Communicate patient status during perioperative care.
• Provide acute pain and comfort management as needed.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights.
• Maintain wound and tissue perfusion integrity.
• Protect patient from infection and manage co-morbid conditions.
• Educate patient/caregiver and involve them in decisions.
• Protect patient rights, dignity, and privacy.
• Ensure culturally competent care and legal practice.
