Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings; BLS/BCLS within 90 days.
• ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS within 90 days if pediatric care is included.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status across perioperative phases per policy.
• Interpret monitoring data accurately.
• Describe pathophysiology of common diseases.
• Describe anesthesia techniques and interventions.
• Develop individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement care including recovery management for anesthesia types.
• Communicate patient status across the care continuum.
• Provide pain and comfort management.
• Administer medications safely per the 8 rights.
• Prevent infection and protect patient safety.
• Handover accurate reports to teammates.
• Document nursing care completely.
• Participate in quality review and professional development.
• Maintain competencies and patient rights.
