Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is hiring for a perioperative support role within the Boston-area hospital network. The position provides direct RN assistance in preoperative and postoperative areas, including vital signs, lab specimen collection, EKGs, and patient mobility training.

Strong communication with OR and nursing staff is essential; candidates should have BLS and be able to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment. This is a unionized, full-time hospital support role with variable shifts.

Qualifications

• Accurate order entry and documentation are essential.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities are required.
• Ability to concentrate and prioritize in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work quickly with minimal supervision.
• Experience in Perioperative settings is a plus.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct assistance to the RN in the preoperative and postoperative areas.
• Obtains and documents vital signs, height/weight, blood glucose, and other measures.
• Supports patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Assists with EKGs, specimen collection, and basic perioperative procedures under supervision.
• Transports patients and ensures equipment and supplies are stocked.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and accurate charting.
• Communicates effectively with OR and department staff to anticipate needs.
• Performs clerical duties including order entry, requisitions, and charges.
