Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Massachusetts is seeking a PACU nurse to join our perioperative team. The schedule includes Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., FLEX with call; Saturday, Sunday, and holiday on-call coverage is 24 hours.

You will assess physical, mental, and spiritual status; plan and supervise care; educate patients and families using teachback; maintain infection prevention; complete preoperative records and handoffs with SBAR; and support teamwork and core values.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts RN license.
• 1–2 years recent PACU experience.
• Experience working with patients on drips and ventilators.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
• Demonstrated ability to float to PAT and Pain Clinic with competencies completed.

Responsibilities

• Assess physical, mental, psychological and spiritual status of patient using age-appropriate knowledge.
• Plan, evaluate and supervise care of all patients assigned.
• Identify patient care requirements by establishing rapport with preoperative and postoperative patients and families.
• Provide emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
• Educate patient and family to promote understanding of condition, procedure and medications using teachback.
• Adhere to peri-operative standards and regulations to ensure quality of care.
• Maintain infection prevention and medication safety in line with policies.
• Complete assessments, medication reconciliation and documentation in ORM, PCS and eMAR.
• Ensure preoperative tests are completed and communicated to the attending team.
• Communicate SBAR handoffs when transferring care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional knowledge.
