Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a perioperative support team member for per diem evening shifts. Under supervision, this role assists in OR setup, stock maintenance of sterile supplies, patient prep, and patient transport.

The position emphasizes safe equipment use, infection prevention, and ongoing quality improvement activities. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to read and write English.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalency.
• Thorough training to meet organizational standards.
• Proficiency in reading and writing in English is required to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in transfer and positioning of surgical patients.
• Clean and restock operating rooms and equipment between cases.
• Performs surgical skin preparation (clipping) on appropriate patients.
• Assist in holding patients for spinal anesthesia.
• Transport specimens to appropriate laboratories when necessary, per LHMC policy.
• Deliver blood products to the appropriate surgical suite and inform OR Front Desk of products returned/not used.
• Assist the surgical team with room setup.
• Assist equipment technicians to obtain special equipment for the procedure.
• Use equipment safely and report issues or repairs to Charge RN.
• Maintain contamination prevention and infection control.
