Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a Non-licensed patient care assistant to support the surgical team under RN supervision. Responsibilities include preop, intraop, and postop activities to promote patient comfort and safety.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, completion of PCA orientation, and BLS/First Aid within 30 days of hire. CNA/MA experience is preferred for this position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of departmental clinical support or PCA orientation.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.
• CNA or MA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support activities to assist the nursing team caring for surgical/procedural patients.
• Utilizes aseptic technique to open sterile supplies and prepares areas for next case.
• Transports patients and cleans transport devices and rooms.
• Maintains inventory and ensures supplies and equipment are available for patient care.
