Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel to support the nursing team in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care. Under RN supervision, you will perform delegated tasks, transport patients, assist with supplies, and help maintain sterile processing support.

This nonprofessional care role requires a High School diploma, completion of PCA orientation, and Basic Life Support within 30 days. Prior patient care or CNA/MA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of departmental clinical support or PCA orientation.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support for surgical/procedural patients under RN supervision.
• Assists with supplies, instruments, and equipment for cases.
• Uses aseptic technique to open sterile supplies and prepares work areas.
• Transports patients and cleans transport devices; assists with transfers and positioning.
• Maintains inventory control of supplies and equipment in daily operations.
• Performs cleaning and stocking tasks in Sterile Processing and per policy.

Skills

CNA or MA experience

Prior patient care experience

Education
