Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel to support the perioperative nursing team in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care. The role involves assisting with patient care activities, transporting patients, and helping maintain a sterile, organized operating room environment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, completion of departmental orientation, and BLS/HeartSaver certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of departmental clinical support or PCA orientation.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support activities to assist the nursing team caring for surgical/procedural patients which may include total care within scope of practice and the performance of point of care tests.
• Utilizes aseptic technique to open sterile supplies and prepares work area for next patient/shift.
• Transports patients and cleans/organizes equipment and work areas.
• Maintains inventory control and stocking of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Cleans autoclaves and processes instruments; adheres to department policies and safety procedures.
