Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel to support the perioperative nursing team. The role performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative tasks under RN supervision, including supplies, transport, and basic patient care to promote comfort and safety.

This night-shift position requires good teamwork, aseptic technique, and ability to work in a high-stress surgical environment with a strong emphasis on patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of departmental clinical support or PCA orientation.
• Obtain Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support under RN supervision.
• Maintains aseptic technique to open sterile supplies and assist with case prep.
• Transports patients, cleans and inventories equipment, and assists with room turnover.
• Documents vital signs and patient information as directed by nursing staff.

Skills

Prior patient care experience

CNA or MA experience

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

PCA orientation completed

BLS/HeartSaver First Aid cert within 30 days
