Job summary

WVU Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a capable Unlicensed Assistive Personnel to assist the nursing team with perioperative care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative stages.

The role involves patient transport, inventory management, sterile processing tasks, and basic point-of-care activities under RN supervision. Prior CNA/MA experience is preferred and a Basic Life Support/HeartSaver certification must be obtained within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of departmental clinical support or PCA orientation.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.
• CNA or MA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support activities to assist the nursing team caring for surgical/procedural patients; may include total care and vital signs monitoring.
• Transports patients and cleans transport devices; assists with patient transfers and positioning.
• Maintains inventory control and stocking of supplies; supports case carts and supply rooms.
• Maintains clean, safe work areas; cleans autoclaves and processing areas as assigned.
• Documents vitals, weights and fluids; supports room setup and equipment readiness.
• Transports non-narcotic medications as directed by a registered nurse; may assist Epidural pump transport.
