Job summary

The Referral Team Supervisor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City oversees the daily operations of the pediatric referral team within the Department of Pediatrics. This position sits in a call-center environment and reports to the Pediatric Clinical Enterprise.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) with up to 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
• Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Supervisor, Administration Management with equivalent education/experience.
• Experience with referral processing and collaborating with healthcare teams is preferred.
• Prior supervisory or team-lead experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily referral-team operations; hires, trains, coaches staff; manages work queues and performance.
• Resolves problems and responds to complaints related to referral requests, processing, patient access, and staff/provider concerns.
• Assists in policy revisions and department procedures related to referral processes.
• Assists in long-range planning of department goals, staffing, productivity and turnaround times.
• Maintains department records and prepares monthly reports on referral metrics and denials.
• Participates on departmental, interdisciplinary and organizational committees.
• May perform duties of the referral team for complex or escalated referrals.
• Uses EPIC to monitor workflows, workqueues, and In Basket activity; serves as a resource for EPIC usage.
• Monitors EPIC In Basket to ensure timely review and routing of messages.
