Job summary

The Behavioral Health Technician I at Akron Children's Hospital is a part-time position (24 hours per week) working 7pm to 7:30am, with 2 twelve-hour shifts and rotating weekends/holidays in the inpatient behavioral health unit. The role supports care for children and adolescents, under RN direction, in the inpatient unit or ED.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Undergraduate enrollment in counseling, psychology, social work or related field; nursing preferred.
• Associate degree is preferred.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
• 0–2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and contributes to assessment and care planning for assigned patients.
• Provides direct care to patients under RN delegation and guidance.
• Facilitates psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups.
• Documents in the medical record according to policy.
• Maintains safety and therapeutic environment and communicates with the treatment team.
• Demonstrates crisis management using positive approaches.
