Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician I to support care for children and adolescents ages 5-17 in the inpatient behavioral health unit or emergency department. The schedule is full-time 36 hours weekly, 1st shift from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends/holidays.

Under the direction of a registered nurse, you will assist in direct patient care, participate in psychoeducational activities, document in the medical record, and help

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree for counseling, psychology, social work or related degree, or nursing preferred.
• Associate degree is preferred.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and contributes to care planning and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Provides direct care and supports RN in safety and daily activities.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups.
• Document in the medical record according to policies.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and communicate with the treatment team.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and crisis management.
• Conduct safety rounds and monitor milieu for safety and security.
