Job summary

Akron Children's seeks a Behavioral Health Technician I for the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. This part-time role covers 24 hours per week with 7pm–7:30am shifts, Monday–Friday and rotating weekends/holidays.

Under RN direction, you support care for children aged 5–17 admitted to the unit or ED, perform safety checks, document care, and assist with activities of daily living. A BLS certification is required and enrollment in related undergraduate studies is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree for counseling, psychology, social work or related field is preferred.
• Associate degree is preferred. BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care under RN supervision and as part of the care team.
• Provide direct care and support for physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activities and participate in treatment plans.
• Document in medical records according to hospital policy.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and communicate with the treatment team.
