Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician I for part-time, 24 hours per week in the inpatient behavioral health unit or emergency department. The role supports care under a registered nurse, focusing on children and adolescents aged 5-17.

You will work second shift (12pm–12:30am) with flexible days and rotating weekends/holidays, in a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to safety and therapeutic care.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree for counseling, psychology, social work or related degree, or nursing preferred.
• Associate degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and contributes to assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of individualized care.
• Provides direct care to patients with RN delegation and teamwork.
• Facilitates psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups.
• Documents in the medical record according to policy.
• Encourages patients in activities of daily living.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; supports safety in the workplace.
• Communicates observations to the treatment team and RN clearly and effectively.
• helps manage crisis situations using positive approaches.
• Supports unit environment and provides instruction to patients and families.
