Job summary

University Physicians' Association, Inc. (UPA) is seeking a full-time Procedure Scheduler to manage scheduling of GI procedures, testing, and radiology, including precertification.

The role involves coordinating with OR and central scheduling, and providing patient education and materials. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of office scheduling experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to act as a patient advocate within a fast-paced pediatric GI setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years office experience including scheduling and precertification in an EHR.
• Good reading comprehension and ability to clearly communicate with patients and other facilities.
• Able to deal compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians and fellow staff.

Responsibilities

• Schedule GI procedures, GI testing, and radiology testing.
• Handle precertification of procedures as determined by insurance.
• Coordinate scheduling with radiology and OR scheduling departments.
• Ensure accurate entry of information in the physician’s schedule in the EHR.
• Assemble facility procedure packets and consent forms.
• Instruct patients on preparation for procedures and provide teaching materials.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient and practice information.
• Provide flexible, cooperative, and communicative liaison between providers, patients, and centers.
• Perform duties independently with minimal direction and supervision.
• Identify and perform duties as needed beyond assignments.
• Maintain thorough documentation in patient charts.
