Job summary

Shriners Children’s St. Louis is seeking three full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologists to join a dedicated perioperative team.

You will provide anesthesia care for a wide range of pediatric procedures, with emphasis on mid-acuity to complex cases, including regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided blocks, and advanced airway management. Successful candidates will be fellowship-trained in pediatric anesthesia and must hold ABA board certification or eligibility, with licensure and DEA eligibility in

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
• Completion of fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
• Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology by ABA with subspecialty in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
• Eligibility for active and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of practice.
• Active DEA eligibility.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers and PALS certification.
• Credentialing and privileging by the medical staff per hospital bylaws.
• Deep understanding of pediatric physiology, pharmacology, and anesthesia considerations.
• Competence in pediatric anesthetic techniques and airway management.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and develop individualized anesthetic plans for pediatric patients.
• Administer general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care to pediatric patients.
• Monitor vital signs and anesthetic depth throughout perioperative phases.
• Manage pediatric airway techniques and ventilation strategies.
• Respond to intraoperative emergencies with appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with surgeons, pediatricians, nurses and allied health staff.
• Provide postoperative pain management and regional anesthesia.
• Document assessments and interventions in the EHR per standards.
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and protocol development.
• May contribute to training of residents, fellows, or students.
• Maintain productivity, quality metrics, and institutional standards.
