Job summary

Shriners Children's St. Louis is recruiting three full-time, fellowship-trained Pediatric Anesthesiologists to join its perioperative team. The role focuses on pediatric anesthesia in an all-physician model with a rotating 1-in-4 home-call schedule and no CRNA supervision.

Clinical time is primarily in the OR with additional preoperative assessments and occasional PACU coverage. We serve patients up to age 18 and collaborate with pediatric orthopedic surgeons and a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency.
• Completion of a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship.
• Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology with pediatric subspecialty.
• Eligibility for active MO licensure and DEA registration.
• BLS and PALS certification.
• Credentialing and clinical privileges eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and develop individualized anesthetic care plans for pediatric patients.
• Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care in surgical and nonsurgical settings.
• Monitor vital signs and anesthetic depth throughout induction, maintenance, and emergence.
• Use pediatric airway management techniques and advanced airway strategies.
• Recognize and respond to intraoperative complications and perioperative emergencies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, pediatricians, nurses, and allied health professionals.
• Provide postoperative pain management and follow-up, including regional anesthesia and PACU monitoring.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and protocol development.
• Contribute to medical education or scholarly activities as appropriate.
• Meet productivity and institutional performance standards.

Education

Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology (ABOA) with pediatric subspecialty

Eligibility for Missouri medical licensure
