Shriners Children’s St. Louis is seeking a full-time Chief of Anesthesia to lead the pediatric perioperative team, providing strategic and clinical leadership for all pediatric anesthesiologists.

The role combines clinical duties with administrative oversight of two operating rooms, quality programs, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate is fellowship-trained in Pediatric Anesthesiology with 7+ years post-residency experience and a proven track record in leadership, quality

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
• Completion of fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
• Minimum 7 years post-residency clinical experience in anesthesiology with a focus on pediatrics.
• ABA board certification or eligibility with pediatric subspecialty.
• Eligibility for active and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of practice.
• DEA eligibility.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Credentialing and privileging by the medical staff per bylaws.
• Leadership ability and analytical thinking for practice improvement.
• Patient-centric approach and change management.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for all clinical, educational, and research activities within the Department of Anesthesiology.
• Oversee anesthesia services across perioperative care for pediatric patients.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Develop departmental protocols, clinical pathways, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Recruit, mentor, and credential anesthesiology faculty and staff; manage professional development.
• Oversee department budget and capital planning in collaboration with administration.
