Job summary

Shriners Children's St. Louis is recruiting three full-time, fellowship-trained Pediatric Anesthesiologists to join its dedicated perioperative team.

These physicians will provide anesthesia care for children undergoing a broad range of procedures, in a hospital-based program serving patients up to 18 years old. Approximately 90% of clinical time is in the operating room with some preoperative assessments and occasional PACU coverage.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency.
• Completion of a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship.
• Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology with pediatric subspecialty eligibility.
• Active Missouri medical licensure eligibility and DEA registration.
• BLS and PALS certification.
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and develop individualized anesthetic care plans for pediatric patients.
• Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care in surgical and nonsurgical settings.
• Monitor vital signs and anesthetic depth throughout induction, maintenance, and emergence.
• Utilize pediatric airway management techniques and advanced airway strategies.
• Respond to intraoperative complications and perioperative emergencies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
• Provide postoperative pain management and follow-up care, including regional anesthesia.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement efforts.
