Qualifications

Job Requirements: Candidates must hold an MD or DO, complete an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship, and be board-certified or board-eligible in anesthesiology with pediatric subspecialty certification or eligibility. Candidates must be eligible for unrestricted Missouri medical licensure, DEA registration, hospital credentialing, and clinical privileges and maintain BLS and PALS certification. Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, pharmacology, anesthetic techniques, advanced airway management, vascular access, and resuscitation is required. One to three years of post-fellowship pediatric anesthesiology experience is preferred; recent fellowship graduates with appropriate training and clinical exposure will be considered.

Job Description: Shriners Children's St. Louis is recruiting three full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologists to join its dedicated perioperative team. These positions offer focused pediatric anesthesia practices within an all-physician care model and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Approximately 90% of clinical time is spent in the operating room, with remaining time dedicated to preoperative assessments and occasional PACU coverage. The practice features two operating rooms staffed daily, no CRNA supervision, a rotating 1-in-4 home-call schedule, no PICU responsibilities, and no routine resident or fellow teaching responsibilities.
Physicians provide anesthesia for general orthopedics, spine, upper and lower extremity, sports medicine, and select plastic surgeries, primarily serving mid- and lower-acuity pediatric patients, including children with complex neuromuscular conditions. Clinical opportunities include general and regional anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care, ultrasound-guided blocks, advanced airway management, postoperative pain management, and sedation-recovery monitoring.
Anesthesiologists also participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, protocol development, and peer review while collaborating closely with pediatric orthopedic surgeons, Advanced Practice Providers, nursing, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and recreational therapy staff.
Shriners Children's provides specialty pediatric care regardless of families' ability to pay or insurance status. Annual compensation is $143,374.40 - $215,051.20, based on relevant experience and departmental equity.
